The Village of Vernon Hills was originally a satellite of nearby Libertyville and began with as few as 125 houses. Just having incorporated in 1958, Vernon Hills is one of the newest fomally recognized communities in the area. With just a few hundred residents, a Village Hall in an old country club and the trustees acting as deputies, it is amazing to see the growth that has occurred in just some 50 years. A brand new Village Hall was constructed in 2002, a state-of-the-art Police Department boasts over 70 full-time officers all serving more than 20,000 residents!! Neighboring communities include Mundelein, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Long Grove and Hawthorn Woods

Vernon Hills Transportation

Getting to and from Vernon Hills is simple! It is easily accessed by car via I-94 (Tri-state Tollway) and major local highways like US Rt 45, IL Rt 83, IL Rt 60 (Townline Rd) and IL Rt 21 (Milwaukee Ave). Buses are available through Pace Bus Service. Train service is provided by Metra Rail. Commercial air service can be found at O'Hare International Airport.
